monta continues restructuring in insolvency proceedings

Preliminary debtor-in-possession proceedings ordered – Business operations to be continued – Key stakeholders support restructuring measures

monta Klebebandwerk GmbH filed an application for the opening of insolvency proceedings in self-administration with the district court Kempten (Allgäu) on 16th July 2026. At the same time, an order for provisional debtor-in-possession proceedings was requested. By order dated 23 July 2026, the insolvency court ordered preliminary debtor-in-possession proceedings and appointed Dr Marco Liebler, attorney-at-law with Gerloff Liebler Rechtsanwälte, as preliminary court-appointed custodian (vorläufiger Sachwalter). In addition, the court appointed a preliminary creditors' committee comprising lenders, suppliers, employee representatives and other creditors. This order has established an important basis for the next steps in the restructuring of monta Klebebandwerk GmbH.

The restructuring experts and lawyers Vincenz von Braun and Gregorio Calocero from Anchor have been general representatives since the application was filed and, together with the managing director Lars Böhrnsen, ensure that the legal requirements for a self-administration procedure are met. The recently appointed CRO Gunther Gerlach from Executive Interim Partners supports the company in its operational and commercial continuity.

The business operations will continue in full. The aim of the procedure is to consistently pursue the operational restructuring path already initiated by utilising the possibilities of the German insolvency code and to financially re-establish the company in a sustainable manner. According to the submitted plan the continued operation of the business should financially be possible until at least the end of January 2027.

The filing for insolvency proceedings has no immediate impact on the business operations of the foreign subsidiaries in Hungary and Romania.

The chosen path has been coordinated with the key stakeholders. The main financier has expressed their willingness to financially support the restructuring in debtor-in-possession proceedings. The members of the preliminary committee of creditors also support the preliminary self-administration. The works council is closely involved. The shareholders support the chosen restructuring course and the search for a long-term investor solution.

„Self-administration provides us with the appropriate framework to consistently continue the initiated restructuring and to sustainably reposition monta. The fact that financiers, key creditors, the works council, and shareholders support this path creates a good starting point for the restructuring”, says Lars Böhrnsen, CEO of monta Klebebandwerk GmbH.

The operational measures that have already been initiated will be continued. This includes, in particular, the revision of the product portfolio, the optimisation of production and order processing, as well as additional sales activities both domestically and internationally. At the same time, a structured and transparent investor process is being initiated. The goal is a sustainable continuation of the company, the preservation of the jobs at the Immenstadt facility, and thereby the best possible satisfaction of the creditors.
