In general, hotmelt adhesives are based on polymers like ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), polyamide, polyolefin, polyurethane etc. These polymers consist of long, repeated molecular chains. Depending on their type, they determine e.g. the adhesive’s strength, flexibility, heat-resistance, impact resistance and shear strength.
Hotmelt adhesives are thermoplastic materials, meaning they are solid at room temperature. They are used in many sectors like packaging, automotive, printing or the textile industry. At monta we use hotmelt as an adhesive technology for some of our self-adhesive tapes.
To ensure a strong and immediate connection between the tape’s carrier and the adhesive, the hotmelt granulate is melted and applied to the carrier while still being hot and liquid. The finished tape impresses with its good immediate tack, high adhesive strength on steel and high transparency.
We rely on the strength of hotmelt adhesive for our extremely resistant filament tapes for packing hazardous goods. Additionally, we offer hotmelt-coated packaging tapes and a crepe masking tape for painting and varnishing works.
