When packing, storing and transporting extremely heavy goods, exceptionally strong and tear-resistant adhesive tapes are required. Those with MOPP backing material are perfect for such challenging applications.
PP is short for polypropylene which is a popular backing material for adhesive tapes. A distinction is drawn between bi-axially (BOPP) and mono-axially (MOPP) oriented PP films. The latter are stretched only lengthwise during their production, which results in just a small transverse orientation of the molecules. In contrast, the longitudinal tensile strength is very high. This leads to minimal elongation with high tear strength. Therefore, MOPP adhesive tapes are extremely strong and almost indestructible.
The MOPP films used by monta measure between 0,049 and 0,085 mm in thickness. Since we coat them with a special high tack natural rubber adhesive, the MOPP adhesive tapes have an excellent initial tack on many surfaces. Furthermore, they are shock resistant and resistant to diluted acids as well as alkalis. They can handle temperatures from -10°C and for a short term up to 100°C.
Their special characteristics make MOPP tapes an excellent choice for various industry and trade applications. A main purpose is packing, strapping or bundling. monta’s strongest tape can even be used for securing extremely heavy items such as steel coils and metal rods. Our products are also great for securing pallets. Another intended application is the sealing of demanding goods in the electronic, furniture, automobile or white goods industry as well as for securing parts and components for the transportation. Due to their strength, MOPP tapes can also be used as prematerial for carry handles, commonly used for beverage six-packs, and for tear strips to open boxes and cartons.
